Detail:
The Night/Weekend Duty Doctor is responsible for the provision of all medical/psychiatric coverage to patients in the facility during their shift (after regular business hours, weekends - Friday and Saturday and holidays) and is familiar with the job descriptions for both the Psychiatrist and the Family Practice/General Practitioner. The RR resident will perform medical assessments by thorough history, physician examination, diagnostic testing and specialist referral as required. He/she will provide initial psychiatric assessment using available history and presenting condition to meet or exceed the standards set by the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Ontario (CPSO). The resident will diagnose and provide evidence based treatment for physical and psychiatric conditions and is familiar with the policies and practices for minimum restraint usage at Ontario Shores.

Supervision:
A Staff Physician will be available by phone to directly supervise the Restricted Registration Physician at all times. The on-call psychiatrist/physician will also be available 24/7 for back up if required, and is required to make it to the facility within 20 minutes maximum. The Restricted Registration Physician will never be the Most Responsible Physician.

Min Requirement:
As per the Restricted Registration guidelines established by the Residents Training Program. Geriatric Psychiatry Rotation done.

Additional Requirement:
The Resident must be registered with the College of Physicians and Surgeons and be a member in good standing, have current CMPA coverage, and must meet the credential/privilege requirements as per Ontario Shores’ By-Law. The Resident will have a comprehensive knowledge and understanding of the Mental Health Act and associated forms, mental health policies, programs, and systems, both institutional and community based and be current CPR certified (minimum). We are looking for a Resident with strong interpersonal skills and the ability to establish solid working relationships with internal and external stakeholders. The resident should possess strong organizational and prioritization skills and have the ability to provide leadership within a multidisciplinary team.

Remuneration:
$800/16 hour shift

Call:
Not applicable as the position requires the resident to remain on site for the duration of the shift.
