Critical Care Clinical Assistant (CCCA) - Lakeridge Health Oshawa

Summary:
You will be required to provide in-hospital medical support for patients in the Critical Care Unit and assessment and treatment of patients requiring critical care consultation in other areas of the hospital.

Detail:
The Critical Care Clinical Assistant (CCCA) will provide in-hospital medical support for patients in the Critical Care Unit and assessment and treatment of patients requiring critical care consultation in other areas of the hospital. This will include assisting with daily rounds and procedures, and managing patient issues as needed while on call. The CCCA will also respond to in-hospital Code Blue and Code Stroke events to act as a physician member of the team.

Supervision:
The CCCA will be supervised by an attending critical care physician at all times, with physical presence during rounds and as needed, and with remote telephone-based support. The CCCA is required to contact the supervising intensivist to review all new admissions and consultations. Familiarization with the Code Stroke protocol will be required and provided, which includes telemedicine-based support of clinical decision making.

Min Requirement:
Must be enrolled or entering PGY 3 in Internal Medicine, Anesthesia, Emergency Medicine, General Surgery or other relevant resident program with exposure to critically ill patients; prior ICU rotations. Completion of ACLS course within past 2 years (or current and valid ACLS instructor status).

Remuneration:
$2,000 for 24h weekend shift (0800h-0800h), $1,000 for day shift (0800h-1800h), $1,300 for overnight shift (1800h-0800h). Weekend shifts usually 24 hours but occasionally split shifts are organized based on CCCA availability, some weeknight overnight shifts also available.

Requires in-house presence during shifts. Call room provided. Access to scrub suits while on call provided.
