Our Emergency Department is divided into two zones, zone A is where you will see CTAS 3,2 and 1 patients and zone B is where you will see primarily CTAS 4,5 patients. In zone A, we have primary ED shifts that are only 7.5 hours long on weekdays and 9.5 hours long on weekends. Detail: You will be required to provide general internal medicine ward coverage at the hospital, as well as perform consultations to the intensive care units, surgical wards, and Emergency Department. The hours will be 1700 to 1000h (following day) on weekdays, and 0800 to 1000h (following day) on weekends. Patients will have a variety of diagnoses. Detail: You will be required to provide on-call coverage for PRHC’s ICU and hospital code blue. The ICU at PRHC is a 24-bed combined med/surg ICU and CCU. There are typically also 1-5 CCU patients admitted to the unit, but the resident does not cover these patients. On average, 0-4 patients are admitted to the ICU during this time period. The ICU resident on-call provides medical coverage for the ICU. This includes medical coverage for patients admitted to the ICU, consultation/admission for deteriorating inpatients, the emergency department, post-operative patients. This shift includes code blue coverage from 24:00-07:30. PRHC also has a funded Critical Care Response Team (CCRT). PRHC is a regional hospital that provides ICU-level support for smaller regional centres and occasionally accepts patients from these centres in transfer. These calls will be directed to staff via Criticall prior to any resident involvement. The resident is not expected to directly cover code stroke calls. Residents should be comfortable with central venous cannulation and advanced airway management.

TDMH is a full service active treatment hospital with 30 acute care beds, 5 ICCU beds and 10 CCC beds. There is 24/7 Emergency Room Service with specialty back up in Internal Medicine, Surgery, Anaesthesia and Radiology, and access to world-class tertiary care just 30 minutes away in London. The resident will be required to respond to all Emergency Department patients and will respond to inpatient Units at nursing request for any pressing/emergency issues if the hospitalist is not available.

Detail: You will be required to provide general internal medicine ward coverage at the hospital, as well as perform consultations in the intensive care units, surgical wards, and Emergency Department. This job involves providing daytime ward coverage (rounding) and/or overnight ward coverage and performing new consultations for patients in the intensive care units (to transfer to the ward), surgical units, and emergency department. The hours will be 1700 to 1000h (following day) on weekdays, and 0800 to 1000h (following day) on weekends. Patients will have a variety of diagnoses. Care and admission for patients with COVID-19 may be recruited separately. Every attempt will be made to accommodate site preferences (TWH, TGH or Sinai) when booking shifts. However, under extenuating circumstances, in-the-moment flexibility may be required (i.e. a confirmed shift at TGH may be transferred to TWH or MSH and vice versa), depending on need.

Detail: Royal Victoria Regional Health Centre Barrie is a very busy community ED with a strong teaching program, regional stroke centre, cath lab and varied patient population (lots of pediatrics). We have triple or quadruple coverage for the times the Resident Provisional Registration physicians would be working and excellent specialist and radiology services.
